Char's Reptile Store is now CLOSED - Wednesday 01 June, 2011
I am sorry to say that after 12 years I have closed down my store front in downtown Houston. I want to thank all of my loyal patrons for supporting the store over the years. I would not have made it without your dedication to healthy animals and good husbandry! Thank you all so much! I now have the opportunity to dedicate more time to my presentations that are not just educational but FUN! With the reptile industry under attack the way it is, I find it more compelling to get out and educate on the animals so that future generations will always have the ability and opportunity to enjoy the hobby of herps! My phone number is still the same so if you have a special event coming up for school, scouts or personal, please give me a call!! I still offer boarding as well. So, I'm still around, just no more store. Sorry! I retired to the country with all kinds of natural critters around! Can't beat that! Stay in touch--call or send and email. Do appreciate!!!!

Did you hear the latest??? It is official: PRAIRIE DOG EMBARGO HAS BEEN LIFTED!!! The FDA "banned" our little prairie dogs back in 2003 when the furballs were exposed to monkeypox from African rodents carrying the disease. All the big guns got involved, FDA, USDA, CDC, but it was FDA that imposed the embargo while the investigation was on. As of September 8, 2008 (FIVE years later), the FDA stated: "....is removing its regulation that established restrictions on the capture, transport, sale, barter, exchange, distribution, and release of African rodents, prairie dogs, and certain other animals. WE ARE REMOVING the restrictions because we believe they are no longer needed to prevent the further introduction, transmission, or spread of monkeypox, a communicable and potentially fatal disease, in the United States."
